About LANDFIRE ›› Updating Products ›› LF 1.0.5 & LF 1.1.0 (Refresh)

Refresh OverviewLF_1.0.5 (Refresh 2001) and LF_1.1.0 (Refresh 2008) are updating all LANDFIRE layers to maintain the currency of data sets to: 1) reflect changes resulting from recent (1999 or later) natural disturbances (such as wildland fires) and management activities and 2) address discrepancies that were detected after the initial mapping effort. A key component in the development of LANDFIRE geospatial data products is satellite imagery; however, some of these data originated as far back as 1999. LF_1.0.5 and LF_1.1.0 will update all layers to reflect changes that occurred from 1999-2008.

All available spatial data depicting wildland fires and land-management activities, as well as information that can be used to improve all LANDFIRE layers for the nation, is being incorporated into an Events Database. For more information about LF_1.0.5 and LF_1.1.0 data needs and details on how to participate, please click here. The information must be associated with polygons on the landscape (rather than points) and must be from 1999 or later. Digital photos, vegetation or fuel plot data, and project descriptions or final reports are also valuable and likewise requested, if available. Similar to the LF_1.0.1 (Rapid Refresh) updates, LF_1.0.5 and LF_1.1.0 updates will be made based upon field-provided polygons.
