How to Participate ›› Vegetation Modeling ›› Model Review

Peer review is incorporated into all LANDFIRE vegetation models. Reviewers include experts in vegetation and fire ecology and are not required to attend a vegetation modeling workshop. If you would like to provide review of models for your geographic region, contact the appropriate regional lead.

If you become a model reviewer, your regional lead will provide the model files for you to review. You will also need to download the following:

1. Model Review Documents

• ReadMe Instructions: Instructions to guide reviewers through the review process.
• Model Review Form: Form that allows reviewers to document their review of models.
• Modeling Manual: Reference document explaining LANDFIRE vegetation dynamics modeling background, process, procedures and standards.

2. VDDT Software

Download VDDT software through www.essa.com/vddt (optional). This is the software used to quantitatively model vegetation dynamics. Reviewers have the option to provide feedback on the model description alone (provided by the regional lead) or on the description and the quantitative model.
