How to Participate ›› Field Reference Database ›› Overview

Field-referenced data are critical to any mapping and modeling project involving remotely-sensed data, and the field reference database forms the foundation for all LANDFIRE tasks. The database provides field or "ground-truth" data for mapping and modeling vegetation patterns and conditions and for calibrating models developed by the LANDFIRE team. The LANDFIRE reference database integrates existing field data from outside projects, and gaps in existing data are filled through coordinated field campaigns in target areas.
