LANDFIRE Data Distribution Site

How to Participate ›› Updating Products ›› Providing Event Data ›› Sending Data "As Is"

Thank you for your interest in providing data to support LANDFIRE Refresh. Spatial polygon event (disturbance, treatment) data may be loaded into a geodatabase that we have created specifically for Refresh. Please click here if you wish to explore that option.

We will gladly accept the spatial polygon layers in other formats, including ESRI shapefiles and ArcInfo coverages. Please ensure that the coordinate system is fully defined for all geospatial data submitted (by including a ".prj" file with any shapefiles, for example). Attributes needed for Refresh may be submitted in a separate file, such as an Excel spreadsheet or an Access database, that can be linked to the spatial data via a common field.

Supporting information, including definitions of the fields and any codes in the data tables or data-entry forms, should accompany the data to ensure that they can be interpreted correctly for Refresh. We prefer these supporting documents, or metadata, in digital format, but will take hard copies if no electronic files are available. We also ask that you provide some basic project information for us in this Excel spreadsheet.

Once you have bundled all of the necessary information together, please send it to Brenda Lundberg, the LANDFIRE Data Administrator. You may email datasets smaller than 10MB to Brenda Lundberg at blundberg@usgs.gov. If the files are too large to send via email or if you need to send some hard-copy information, you can mail to:

US Forest Service
Region One Regional Office
PO Box 7669
Missoula, MT 59807

Attn:  Brenda Lundberg,
LANDFIRE RM G-70

Alternatively, you can ftp large electronic data files. Please contact Brenda Lundberg at (406) 329-3405 or blundberg@usgs.gov for more information.
