LF National Map Browser Caching: Frequent users of the LANDFIRE National Viewer may find that a data update has occurred and they do not seem to see it in the viewer or on the download pages.
Background:
Every web browser has a web cache where it saves files for a time to make subsequent requests faster. This is especially useful for the LANDFIRE National Viewer which needs to download about 80 different requests just to start the viewer. However, the viewer is also dynamic, and that can cause some issues where the browser is caching a file that has changed on the server, and does not download the new, updated file.
Advice:
Most users will not need to worry about this, but in these cases, clearing the cache and reloading the viewer will fix the issue. To do this in Internet Explorer, select Internet Tools from the Tool menu, and then click the Delete Files button under Temporary Internet Files.
