Data Products ›› LANDFIRE Fire Regime Product Descriptions Percent of Low-severity Fire
LF_1.1.0 (Refresh 2008) – The PLS layer was derived from the vegetation and disturbance dynamics model VDDT (Vegetation Dynamics Development Tool). This layer is intended to describe one component of historical fire regime characteristics in the context of the broader historical time period represented by the LANDFIRE Biophysical Settings layer and LANDFIRE Biophysical Settings Model documentation. This layer is created by linking the BpS Group attribute in the BpS layer with the Refresh Model Tracker (RMT) data and assigning the Percent of Low Severity Fires attribute. This geospatial product should display a reasonable approximation of Percent of Low Severity Fires, as documented in the Refresh Model Tracker. LF_1.0.5 (Refresh 2001) – The PLS layer was derived from the vegetation and disturbance dynamics model VDDT (Vegetation Dynamics Development Tool). LF_1.0.0 (National) – The PLS layer was derived from vegetation and disturbance dynamics simulations using LANDSUM (Keane and others 2002). This layer is intended to represent one component of the presumed historical fire regimes within landscapes based on interactions between vegetation dynamics, fire spread, fire effects, and spatial context.
